As always you should consult with your tax advisor to find out if either of these ways of donating to CHCV makes sense for you.

Please contact Allison Levin at 802-229-4281 or email us at communityharvestvt@gmail.com so that we know the gift is coming and can ensure it gets processed properly.

IRA Charitable Rollover

If you are 70½ years old or older, consider taking advantage of this simple way to benefit CHCV and receive tax benefits in return. You and your spouse can each give up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as ours without having to pay income taxes on the money. The gift can be used as your required minimum distribution.

Have your financial institution issue the check directly to the CHCV, and be sure to make the gift by December 31 to qualify in this tax year. Contact your IRA provider for more information.

Make CHCV one of your Beneficiaries

By designating CHCV as the full or part beneficiary of your life insurance policy or IRA, you can have a lasting impact on work you care about.

IRA, 401(k) and other qualified retirement plans are an easy way to give to charity as they are subject to multiple types of taxes.

Include CHCV in Your Will or Living Trust

CHCV can help you support a cause that has been important in your life by making a gift to charity in your will. To make such a gift to CHCV simply use the following language for specific bequest:

“I bequeath unto Community Harvest of Central Vermont, tax ID# 46-4791908, the sum of $_____ (or     % of estate) to be used for general charitable purposes.”

You may also find it helpful to consult your attorney.

If you plan to give to CHCV in any of the above ways, please let us know of your intended gift so we can best honor your wishes.

To discuss the details of any of these ways of supporting our work, please be in touch with Allison Levin, CHCV Executive Director at 802-229-4281 or email us at communityharvestvt@gmail.com
